Will you just waste my time, and talk crap about me March 6, 2007
Posted by Robert Puddy in : Business , 2 commentsThats the question I always ask when I get those emails that ask me to mentor or coach someone. Coaching is a two way street it needs input and commitment from both parties.
For anyone to even consider helping you, coaching you or mentoring you there has to be a real commitment from you, I have to know that if I do this your going to listen to, learn from and act on my advice.
I need to know that your not going to just ignore my teaching, and then tell everyone i didnt deliver and that it was a waste of time or money. Sure not everyone who takes class will get the same result, but my reputation hangs on my students ability to come out the other end with a result of some kind.
As long as I leave you much better off than you were before then I did my job.
I get a lot of requests for coaching, most expect it free, some expect me to do it for them. All of the above just go in the recycle bin, not because I want their money but because they are a risk to my reputation. There is no commitment on their part, no consequences if they dont bother with the course, or just pay it lip service.
I want students that have an emotional and finacial stake in their own education, because thats the best way to get results and keep my reputation intact. Incidently it also keeps me motivated too, if its free both of us will have a tendancy to say “it doesnt matter I can do this next week”
I also dont want someone who just pays with no thought at all to their part in all this, I want someone who I can see will go the extra mile, I want students who make the effort to meet with me and discuss their expectations so we can both make sure each of our expectations can be met.
What do you want?
Do you want a mentor who will just send you stuff through email, or do you want a mentor who has an emotional stake in your success.
Liz Tomey and I want to take an emotional stake in your success on line, Its not free for the reasons I give above, and you will have to get out from behind your computer and come to see us in Dallas on march 15th to 18th.
But if you do that, then you will have two successful people committed to getting you started on your dream. Can you let this pass without forever looking back at an opportunity missed?
I hope not
All you have to do is get to Dallas

What I really want to do is get you connected March 4, 2007
Posted by Robert Puddy in : Personal , 1 comment so farI’m having a hard time putting my thoughts down on paper today even this virtual paper. I had 2 phone conversations over the past 48 hours that made me stop and rethink the whole strategy for the Focus Marketing seminar in Dallas in 2 weeks.
With just 2 weeks to go I deleted the sales letter on the site, and deleted the email series I had set up in the auto responders.
Thousands of dollars of adcopy scrapped, even my two business partners have no idea what i just did. Hopefully they trust me enough to see why I did it and wont get mad at me.
So what were these two phone conversations?
One was from an attendee of last years event, She pre paid for a ticket for this years seminar way back in May 2006. She called me to make sure I hadn’t forgotten her, when I told her that we hadn’t forgot her and she was on the list of attendees
Her exact words were
“oh I’m so glad, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to attend, you changed so much for me last year I just had to make sure I had a seat before it sold out”
Not I was making sure in case i had to ask for my money back but making sure we didn’t forget her and she missed out.
The second call was from a gentleman who is a first time attendee.
During the conversation it came out that he had used his rent money to pay for the ticket, was he having second thoughts and asking for a refund?
No he was also making sure we had his name down for a seat he was just checking everything was in order and he could attend.
The first call made me very happy and proud, its part of the reason I do this.
The second call made me feel guilty and I said so, his response was “don’t be I know this is exactly what i need, I have the talent I just need the contacts, I know next year I will be writing you a testimonial”
Calls like that are the reason why I’m sitting in a hotel room 4000 miles away from my wife and family, or why I spend my time putting on workshops and setting up mastermind
groups in the UK
Now this post is officially longer than the new sales letter up on the site. But I wanted to give you an insight to where my heart is with the Focus Seminars, its about changing lives
I want to change yours, Please read the new sales letter at http://internetseminarsindallas.com/tickets/ and look into
my heart.
Your success
Robert
