It’s been reported to me that some LFMTE owners don’t like the fact that banner impressions can be converted to page views by simply deleting a banner and having the script return the impressions to the credit balance…
Here’s my theory on banner credits being converted in this way…
First thing is if you price your banner credits properly then you can break even or even make a profit on those people who do that.
example: if you sell page views at $7 per thousand and you have banner impression ratios set at 10 impressions per credit then 7 thousand banner impressions can be priced at the same $7 price point (or at $9 to make a profit)
Second thing: if you encourage people to buy banners at cut price then all you are doing is setting up a special offer on page views when they convert them. Your still taking money
Which brings me to point 3…
If customers are buying banner packs now knowing they can do the conversion and get more page views, its my guess if we change that in the script your members will learn not to buy banner or text ad packages.
The people who do the crafty banner conversion are not those who will usually buy page views, they are only doing it because they think they are cheating the system.
Knowing that some people think they are cleverer than you is an opportunity to make money from those people that you other wise wouldn’t be able to do.
In fact I would be positively and aggressively selling banner and text impressions knowing they think they are cheating me.
Understand their motivation and factor that into your pricing and offers
