Firefox sucks, find out how it could be killing your sales July 23, 2008

A rant…

Firefox sucks

I know I know..

The debate over Firefox versus Internet Explorer is one that brings out a whole lot of passion from each camp. But let me tell you something I’m sure not a lot of people know.

First let me pre qualify this rant…

I have absolutely nothing against Firefox itself as a browser, personally I hated it, but there are thousands of Im’ers who love the thing and use it religiously.

That’s fine it’s a completely personal choice and we all make them every day. We use a particular tool get used to using it and anything else that comes out isn’t quite the same we all have preferences

So the normal IE versus Firefox is not the issue here

It’s the add ons… and one in particular that’s costs IM"ers thousands of dollars and thousands of subscribers every day.

Because people have no idea of the detrimental effect this add on has to their bottom line and this insidious little add on continues to deprive you of sales and subscribers every day.

In a recent conference room I let rip my feelings over this nasty little add on, and suggested if someone took the time to research and document all the ways it cost you and me money and subscribers I would gladly tell the world about it.

One very sharp individual saw my outburst as an opportunity and did just that, they researched and documented every situation where it cut into your list building and sales.

And in the spirit of my offer that day I want you to go look at the report, The report is free and available for you to use as a list builder giveaway for your self.

And its in everyone’s best interest to get this information out to all you subscribers and members.

So here’s the link to the site

I was so passionate about this I donated a copy of Launch Formula marketing script to help Sunny put this together, I will also be actively recruiting my friends and colleagues to help with the promotion in order to get this into the hands of as many people as possible

Some of the things this nasty little add-on does to hurt you

  1. stops people seeing your payment buttons (ironically her first customer support ticket was from someone who wanted to purchase the OTO but couldn’t because they had this add on turned on)

  2. restricts which autoresponder subscribe forms you can use

  3. totally blocks out payment pages from some payment processors so even if they see your payment button when they click on it they only get a blank white page

Want to know which add on and how to combat it?

out

Hey Robert,
Your passion comes through loud and clear… and quite justified
I say!
I’ll toddle over and get Sunni’s report and thank you for alerting
us…

Fran :)

O.K. Robert — I must be dumb and/or blind. I downloaded Sunny’s books and I didn’t see a thing about what you are talking about in this post.

3. Sunny Suggs - July 23, 2008

Hey Dan! You’re neither. I should have made it more visible.. and I’ll certainly change that. Right now.. you can go to the “Downloads” tab… and “Click to download” next to where it says “NoMore NoScript”… that’s the ebook in question!

Lemme know if you need anything else!

Sunny =)

Hey Dan -

You didn’t download those with Firefox did you?

NoScript is a very good addon, people who don’t take the time to learn how to use it end up not being able to see what they want, and that includes “ANY” kind of page, not only ads and stuff like that.

Any good thing can be seen as a bad one when uncorrectly used. I use it daily and simply “accept” the content of the web pages I want to see, “WHEN” I want to see them.

Why not change your book for “how to learn how to use your addons”? ;)

After starting to use FireFox after the 2..something version, with “no script” enabled, I have had zero trojans, downloaders, backdoors or viruses, this includes surfing at “high risk” sites to.
The first thing you will be aware of /told installing the add on, is to manually allow all scripts, heavy work in the beginning but its worth it.
If we don’t do that..we could loose some good offers, yes..but I haven’t had one single problem on the way, again…trust to be trusted comes along, I allow anything within interest that seems trust able.
Of course this becomes a problem if people surfs in blind, and forget to “allow” sites, but they probably would seen what they miss anyway.
I even get my hop-clickbank links to work fine :-)
I can…with respect see how businesspeople get a headache over this add on…but you wont loose out that much, the way browsers develops these days, I’m afraid this problem for you will escalate.
BTW…good luck anyway on trying to stop it though.

This happen to me when I want to purchase something. It will not always accept cookies. I can try to adjust the settings,( tools, options, privacy) BUT nothing changes. So if I really want it I will have to use IE. Especially bad with 1shopping cart it seems.

8. Robert Puddy - July 23, 2008

Ah but boys and girls and Ole :)

You are a business person, your trying to make money online in IM this makes it your problem as much as mine. you all personally can be and probably are losing signups and sales because of it.

I have to presume if your in IM your goal is to make sales and get referrals YES?

Then its most definately your problem too

Thanks for bringing up this issue about browser add-ons.

I’ve been having trouble not only with people using No-Script, but also banner ad blockers and other add-ons designed to block online advertising. Similar add-ons are also available for Internet Explorer, so I believe this is an issue concerning all browsers.

I have no problem with people wanting to protect themselves from viruses and trojans. However, something needs to be done to make sure legitimate advertising isn’t blocked by these add-ons.

Sunnys book is well written, not even completely against that particular add on, her suggestion to get educated with is a good solution. I use pc and internet since 10 years, i have no prob to edit the settings.
Join Sunnys site, get that book, follow the instructions and the probs will be solved soon. Otherwise deinstall that add on or just don“ t download it :).

Robert, I’m GLAD you brought this to attention. I was studying
the same thing. I notice that in crazy browser, the browser I use
everything works fine, then I startup firefox, and everything’s
haywire, either the order button is not displaying right or looks
not formatted right.

Popups, like 5 second popups displays to the bottom of the
page, so it stretches the page, and in some cases I’ve seen,
the page doesn’t load at all, I don’t use IE 7 too slow for me,
but one I do recommend is crazybrowser, this browser
originated before firefox etc, still tabbed browsing.
