There are two basic ways to make money online. (there are thousands of methods but only 2 ways)
Through marketing, or through mass traffic generation. (when you can do both watch out!)
Most people don’t truly “get” marketing and go for the “easy” kill (mindless traffic generation). Example – Adsense sites, link bombing, mass site creation, super mega backlink packets, etc…
This is the lets throw as much crap against the wall and see what sticks method, its guaranteed to fail. With such a hit or miss strategy the odds are stacked against you, this is the one in million chance of success syndrome that defeats people. They get dissillusioned and sceptical about all things IM. and a vicious downward spiral occurs.
For most people traffic is the last thing they need.
The more traffic you send to a badly converting web page the more dissillusined you get and the spiral gets faster and faster until you have no hope of success… That is, until you can learn marketing.
The good news is Marketing is a science that can be taught easilly…The bad news is the key to making marketing work is not just knowing the science, its knowing when and where to apply it.
Marketing is basically about learning to convert the information searcher, or the non-buyer, or not sure buyer, into your buyer.
Examples… Offering freebies to get on a list, one time offers, targeted reviews, bonus offers, special prices, webinars, product launches, persuasive articles, jv’s, building authority and trust, etc…
Now, at the very core of marketing, is knowing the type of audience, how to communicate with them, creating value to match their wants/needs, and then persuading the sale.
If you are driving traffic and not getting the result you desire then you are probably not really putting in the effort and thought into understanding the product and the targeted buyer, and subsequently matching them up.
This can be quite the mystery, even to seasoned veterans. People are weird, and unpredictable at times.
You must learn to create or communicate value, answer and remove objections, and all to the appropriate audience.
In short, most people are looking for methods, but skip the actual marketing. It’s understandable. nobody teaches “marketing” anyway because nobody buys it. You usually only find it hidden in the trenches of products behind the flashy methods. People don’t want to think, they generally just want some method to blindly follow. So you probably won’t find this type of info in too many IM products.

Copywriters have been saying this all along but no-one has listened.I’ve felt all along that traffic,even targeted traffic, is not the primary key to success on the internet .True enough ,I imply traffic is key and that money is in the list but in the back of my mind I always had that nagging question –”Then what”.Building a relationship of trust with that traffic is essential and they may buy from you on your word alone.Will they be repeat customers ?
If the trust is not broken and your product or service is what you marketed it as then the answer is a resounding ,yes.
